Crown Law’s purpose is to serve New Zealand by supporting the Government to operate lawfully. 

Crown Law’s functions are:

• Supporting the Law Officers of the Crown

• Leading the government legal profession

• Overseeing public prosecutions

• Providing legal services to government

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation services to the Government in matters affecting the executive government. The services Crown Law provides include matters covering judicial review of government actions, constitutional questions including Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi issues, the enforcement of criminal law, and the protection of revenue. Crown Law also administers the prosecution process in the criminal justice system, in particular, Crown prosecutions.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are looking for a talented Legal Administrator with strong administrative skills and experience in supporting busy team members to join us on a permanent basis. It is an essential role that ensures the team runs efficiently. On any day you might be required to create and format documents; assist legal counsel in preparing for court hearings; arrange meetings; make travel arrangements; complete monthly billing and reporting; or assist with a range of other administrative support functions.

Our ideal candidate will be:

• Confident with their intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially in Word and Outlook.

• Experienced in providing administrative support to a busy team.

• A team player, able to build strong relationships with internal and external customers.

• Organised and able to prioritise competing tasks.

• Focused on exceptional service delivery.

• Energetic, with initiative and a drive to excel.

Prior legal experience will be beneficial, but it is not essential. If you can show you’ve got the ability to adapt and learn quickly, and if you’ve got the skills, experience and potential we’re looking for, then we would love to hear from you.

Location: Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington

This role is Wellington based and located next to Wellington bus and train station. 

What we Offer

Crown Law promotes flexible working so we’d be happy to chat about what flexible working would look like for you and how we can support that. You will also receive:

• A starting salary range of between $66,039 and $76,497 with further room to progress. The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.

• An annual flexi payment;

• An annual wellness payment;

• 4 weeks annual leave plus 3 additional leave days (Crown Law days);
